Fostering Greater SME Participation in Global Value Chains
– Phase 2: Digitalisation and utilisation of emerging technologies

This initiative will involve a number of activities including roundtable discussions between entrepreneurs from relevant APEC economies and technology providers, government officials, and academia.

The broad objectives of the symposium are to:

  1. provide the latest insights into various digital technologies being used to assist SME participation in global value chains; and
  2. improve SMEs’ knowledge of and opportunities to access and participate in these global value chains utilising digital technologies in their business practices.

Discussions will occur online (July – October 2023), as well as an in-person session. The in-person event will be held in Sydney Australia on 23 August 2023.

There will also be site visit(s) and access to the conference Super Exchange: Blockchain, Emerging Technologies and Trade.

Discussions will cover topics such as building business and consumer trust in the digital environment; traceability of supply chains; interoperability of systems; digitalisation of logistic services; regulations and best practices; and managing electronic transactions.
