Rocio Aslida Norzagaray Sandoval
Manager
Grupo Dios Cacao
Azcapotzalco, CDMX
I am a 43-year-old Mexican, enterprising mother and passionate about cocoa and chocolate. My goal is to address the lack of employability for women in the agricultural sector of southeastern Mexico. This represents a challenge for the country, as it limits the economic autonomy of rural women due to the care economy, the lack of access to inclusive public policies and the absence of a gender perspective. My focus is on women who produce and process cocoa, seeking to align this work with SDGs 5, 8 and 12. My interest stems from my own experience as an entrepreneur in the world of cocoa and my commitment to the social economy. I have experienced the gender barriers that women face in the field and have worked to overcome them. As a master’s degree in SMEs and Food Security and Sovereignty, I have led Grupo Dios Cacao, promoting female inclusion in the value chain. My “super powers” are leadership, love for Mexico and the willingness to share knowledge. I seek support in the development of public policies and support networks to strengthen the employability of these women, generating a significant change in the agricultural sector.
