Lasni Silva
Founder, Lactoboost
I am Lasni Silva, academically a Chemical Engineer, professionally an Export Sales Engineer turned entrepreneur, a mother of two, and founder of award-winning start-up Lactoboost. Lactoboost was inspired through my own traumatic experience with low milk supply. Failing to find a solution in Sri Lanka, I researched and created a recipe for myself, which I later started selling as requests started pouring in, for the “breastfeeding cookies”. The recipe was perfected over the course of two years to achieve the product that we are commercially producing and selling today. Our product currently retails at several prominent hospitals, Pharmacy chains as well as online stores in Sri Lanka. We also sell products through our website and ship islandwide.
Our organization is run by an all-female team, mostly composed of young mothers. We personally engage with our customers and support them, as low milk supply is usually accompanied by a host of social and familial pressures that can often cause postpartum depression. We also conduct events and support groups for young mothers such as our annual ” mama’s Day Out” event, curated to provide mothers with an experience that includes valuable learnings, an enjoyable day out with lots of fun and networking opportunities with fellow moms.
Our vision is for all mothers around the world to have a happy and enjoyable journey through early motherhood free of pain and stress.
