Yessica Huenteman Medina; Designer graduated from the Catholic University of Temuco (2005) and Ceramist of Mapuche origin. In 2006 he moved to Palermo, Sicily-Italy and attended various Majolica Ceramics workshops as an apprentice. He has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts; Diploma in Bioecological Architecture and Restoration of Cultural Heritage studied in Palermo. He returned to Chile in 2011 and founded the Contemporary Mapuche Ceramics Workshop ‘ArTerra KuTral’ in Gorbea, Araucanía Region, which is part of the Regional Directory of Creative Industries of the CNCA and the National Registry of Crafts. Since 2013 he has managed and executed cultural projects linked to the revitalization and projection of Mapuche pottery and ceramic art. It uses ceramics as a tool to trigger the creative capacities and regenerate the identity of Mapuche children, young people and women, mainly rural. Since 2014 she has been working on cultural rights and indigenous collective intellectual property. She has a diploma in; ‘Intercultural Leadership’ from the Universidad Santo Tomas (2014); ‘Leadership of Indigenous Women’ from the Universidad Academia Humanismo Cristiano and FILAC (2016); ‘Human Rights for Educators in the Intercultural Context’ by the Catholic University of Temuco and the INDH (2019); ́Commercialization of the Cultural Cycle of Visual Arts’ of the Catholic University of the Holy Conception (2020). She attended the program ‘Representations in the present: Aesthetics and Mapuche Art’ at the Institute of Aesthetics of the Pontifical Catholic University (2020). He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Fundación Base Pública; of the Advisory Council of the CIIR and of the Mapuche Tourism Society A.G Araucanía.

Overview of products/services

We are a Contemporary Mapuche Ceramics Workshop. We merge techniques from Art, Design and Craftsmanship to create works with cultural relevance, aimed at interior design projects, collecting, corporate gifts and special projects. We deliver traditional pottery revitalization and innovation workshops to indigenous communities, schools, on-site organizations, and in our own rural creative space.
