Traceability: Almond Trade Between Australia and Malaysia

The Export Council of Australia is undertaking a project to demonstrate the value of traceability in the trade of almonds between Australia and Malaysia.

The project is funded by the federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and will involve Australian almond producers, Australian Indigenous entrepreneurs, and Malaysian businesses, including food manufacturers and preparers, working together to highlight a collaborative value chain.

As part of the project, Australian participants will have the opportunity to travel to Malaysia to meet with potential Malaysian partners, and participating Malaysian businesses will travel to Australia to visit Australian farms and facilities to gain insight into Australia’s environmentally friendly and high-quality production practices. The project will demonstrate how traceability can help identify operational efficiency and quality improvements, as well as promote brands through improved story-telling.
