Sara Cheng is a widely respected business leader with over 25 years of experience supporting Australian enterprises in global trade and investment. Her distinguished career spans senior executive roles across the private sector and not-for-profit organisations in both Australia and China.
As Managing Director of China and Beyond—a leading international trade services and distribution agency with offices in Australia and China—Sara has led her team in supporting hundreds of businesses, from innovative startups to iconic Australian brands. Her expertise spans international market expansion, supply chain management, and industry integration.
Sara also brings strong capabilities in corporate governance, strategic planning, and organisational transformation. She has advised and worked with boards and executive teams on corporate turnarounds, digital transformation, and navigating complex cross-border environments. Her work has driven improved performance, stakeholder alignment, and sustainable growth for both commercial enterprises and mission-driven organisations.
She is an influential contributor to both the business and academic communities, serving as Co-Chair of the Australia China Alumni Association, a Member of the Advisory Council of the Harvard Business Review, and formerly a Committee Member of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among other roles.
As co-author of Engaging China: The Realities for Australian Businesses, Sara is recognised for her deep insights into Australia–China relations and international business engagement. She has also managed several federal and state government trade initiatives, including the Stepping Up Program and Women Going Global, bringing a valuable policy perspective and hands-on experience to her work.
