APEC Project:  Supporting SMEs to Utilise Traceability Technologies for More Sustainable Trade

Global trading rules are changing quickly and becoming more complex.  To address these challenges, exporters need to demonstrate transparency and authenticity across supply chains, such as through enhancement of their traceability systems.  Traceability is not just a compliance measure – it is a strategic enabler!

Strong traceability systems foster:

• Improved access and resilience against market volatility and regulatory shifts
• Stronger relationships between producers, processors, retailers, and consumers
• Efficiency through secure and timely data-sharing across parties in the supply chain
• Increased trust and confidence in claims of quality, safety, sustainability and product provenance

This initiative is designed to help stakeholders unlock these benefits and explore how traceability can evolve into a shared approach that create value and mutually beneficial arrangement.

Funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and delivered by the Export Council of Australia, the project invites stakeholders from across APEC economies to join a dialogue on the strategic opportunities and practical challenges surrounding traceability systems.

Participants will engage in a mix of in-person and on-line roundtable discussions, and collaborative exercises, supported by curated content and peer insights.

We invite nominations from:

• SME leaders, exporters, and innovators across agriculture, food, textiles, and manufacturing
• Policymakers working in trade, standards, or the digital economy
• Technology providers and data solution specialists
• Sustainability advocates, auditors, and supply chain practitioners.
